about

This song is one of the first songs I ever wrote. It's a Dylan tribute song. This took me a year to write, while I was reading his book Bob Dylan: Chronicles.
I love the line ' just be grateful for the things you don't have, that you don't want', it was a line in the book, can't remember who said it now, may of been him, but I love how its a way of saying just be grateful for what you do have.

lyrics

Verse one

Stepped out on the road
In the cold North Country
Kicked out of home
He was looking for Woody Guthrie

Verse two

Keepin' it real and keepin' it true
Love and poetry, honey
Played all the joints from dusk til dawn
But he made no money

Chorus

He's chasing after something
Some unknown land downriver
"Happiness is the road" she said
And he always did listen to her
Just be grateful for the things you don't have
That you don't want
In this hydrogen jutebox world

Verse three

So come out and lead, lead the crusade
"I'd rather a 9 - 5 instead
Don't call me a martyr or an idol or a god
'Cause I'm only a musician" he said

Chorus

Bridge

'Cause everyone's fighting the hard battle
Everybody's got a story to tell
He didn't see himself like anybody else
Or the need to explain anything to anyone

Chorus
